Registration Fees go the distance in helping local charities!
Each year the Rocky Point Rally™ donates proceeds from registration fees to seven local charitable organizations. In 2014 this donation totaled $14,700 US ($203,200 pesos), representing $2100 US for each of the seven groups. It’s worth noting this is nearly double that from 2013.
Charity groups receiving funds from the Rocky Point Rally registration and events include the Fire Department, local Red Cross (and ambulance) service, local family service groups (Integral Family Development [DIF]), a women’s cancer screening group, school for children with special needs, and a home for the elderly.
On Nov. 21st, Rally founder and organizer Oscar Palacio, along with rally committee members and volunteers, met with Puerto Peñasco Mayor Gerardo Figueroa Zazueta and First Lady Rafaela Félix de Figueroa to present the first donations to representatives from the Fire Department, Red Cross, DIF (Family Services agency), George Papanicolaou cancer awareness and prevention group, and José Dávalos Valdivia Casa Hogar home for the elderly. This past week, Oscar rode up to Sonoyta (Lukeville/Sonoyta border) in order to present Mayor Ing. Julio Cesar Ramirez Vázquez and First Lady Karla Arias de Ramirez with donated fees for the Sonoyta DIF program. Similarly, he visited CAM La Montaña school for children with special needs in Puerto Peñasco in order to present them with their donations from this year’s Rally.
Thanks to all who register at the Rocky Point Rally™ for helping us help these worthwhile programs each year! Organizers are exploring ways to increase the number of those who choose to register in 2015 so stay tuned for more info throughout the year!
