What’s in store for 14th Rocky Point Rally™?

By:  Puerto Peñasco Convention and Visitors Bureau

The 14th Annual Rocky Point Rally™, to be held across the streets of Puerto Peñasco from Nov. 6th – 9th, will certainly live up to its name as the Greatest Motorcycle Fiesta just South of the Border while raising money for local charities. Begun initially in 2001 with just 380 bikers, the November Rally quickly doubled and has become one of the most highly anticipated yearly events for bikers across Mexico and Southwestern U.S. This year, estimates point to at least 6000 bikers for the 2014 version of the Rocky Point Rally™!

Events lined up for this year include a kick-off party at Banditos with the contagious energy of Tempe based rock group The Black Moods, along with Friday night’s traditional sunset Beach Fiesta on the terrace of Playa Bonita Hotel set to the country sounds of Lake Havasu native and Nashville signed singer Matt Farris, plus rock on the malecón and Calle 13 with Pachuca Blues out of Tijuana. For the first time ever, the Main Event for Saturday night will take place at Plaza Gobernadores in the Malecón where, after a day of rocking with Pachuca Blues, bikers and rally goers will continue the fiesta with the music of Matt Farris and headliner Mogollon!

Saturday will also offer the traditional Bike Parade through town, which is doubling up as a Toy Run for 2014, set to begin in front of the Red Cross at noon before winding its way through town and ending at the malecón. Bikers are asked to bring a toy for the Toy Run Parade, which will be collected and given out at a follow-up event at the beginning of January (Jan. 10) for Kings’ Day – a traditional day for children to receive gifts in Mexico. Folk are of course invited to come back in January to take part in giving out all the gifts!

Activities during the 14th Annual Rocky Point Rally™ also include the traditional Mystery Poker Run, a Condo Poker Run on Friday, spectacular desert rides out to the Visitors Center of the Pinacate Biosphere Reserve, contests for Miss Rocky Point Rally with different sponsors, bike wash, a Rally Passport tour through town, and condo stay raffle prizes for folks at registration!

Registration for the 14th Rocky Point Rally™ $15 US, with 100% of registration and poker run monies going to seven local charities: Red Cross, Fire Department, La Montaña school for children with special needs, José Dávalos Casa Hogar home for the elderly, and George Papanicolaou group for women’s cancer testing and awareness, as well as both the Puerto Peñasco and Sonoyta offices on Integral Family Development (DIF). Since it began, the Rocky Point Rally™ has raised more than $130,000 US for these different groups.
