The community of Puerto Peñasco is invited to donate school supplies to the “Back pack School Drive” of the local motorcycle club Los Hijos del Pueblo.

Roberto Ramiréz, President of the local club, indicated the school supply drive originally has been done between clubs in Tijuana, Mexicali, and Hermosillo, and now for the first time Los Hijos del Pueblo will be doing their own school supply drive here.

He indicated collection of supplies is being done by the 13 members of the local club, as well as biker friends of the club in nearby cities, and the invitation also goes out to anyone in the community who would like to help. Donations of school supplies can be dropped off through Sept. 3rd at the Casa de la Cultura (across from City Hall), Café Limani (in Plaza Pelicanos) or Pinturas Luvisa.

Cesar Ochoa, Vice President of the local Hijos del Pueblo club, detailed ítems they are collecting include: paper, posterboard (white and colors), crayons, tissue paper for crafts, scissor, liquid glue, watercolors and brushes, among other everyday school supplies.

The collection “El Mochilón” will last through September 3rd so that supplies can be presente don September 5th. This year the supplies will go to children at the Nueva Creación kindergarten in the neighborhood of San Rafael.

Note: If you’re coming in November and would still like to donate to the local kids in town, remember at the 15th Anniversary Rocky Point Rally we will be collecting toys (at the registration spots) that will help us put on our 2nd Three Kings Day Fiesta in January 2016!
